I Prefer The Bench

Wednesday night, the coach told me that I'm starting for the next game. I usually start on the bench, which makes me nervous.

Irrational yes, but starting a game means the opposing team is still fresh. Which means they can hit you harder. Starting on the bench means your opponent is hindered by fatigue yet you are still fresh. You can then hit them harder.

Then came Saturday, start. Run, run, run, tackle, tackle, tackle, swear, swear, swear.

Got substituted for the last 10 minutes, played 70 minutes.

Copped a knee to right ear, temporary partial deafness for a few days. Stud marks on forehead. Splitting headache. The usual bruises here and there, nothing major.

Went to a coaching course on Sunday morning. Am now qualified to be a coach in Australia. Awesome.

However, to coach at schools I need to do a Working With Children Check to make sure that I'm not a sexual offender, paedophile or someone with a mental problem. A bit of a spot there, tough luck.
