Rant [verb] - to talk in a wild and vehement manner

Commuting everyday to Clayton from Brunswick is hard work. The situation is not made any better by Connex, the public train operator.

And it worsens into a shithouse type of situation as you hope that any day soon that they will finally bank in your allowance that is due for nearly 3 months now.

Congratulations on another job well done.

Because I could no longer afford to buy a ticket to get to and fro, I have resolved to hole up in my office and only get back home on weekends until my allowance is banked in.

I have expected that this would happen so I've made savings for rainy days like these. But when it rains for nearly 3 months, you can only eat dust and live on hope waiting for the sun to come out again. Butter spread so thin, there is no butter anymore.
