Adik Derhaka

I got caught up in all the hype and excitement of starting honours year I seems to have forgotten one thing.

Tomorrow is the 1st of August 2009.

My eldest sister is getting married.

Adik derhaka....

I have tried everything I could on my end to wriggle my way back to Malaysia to attend her big day.

Adik derhaka....

I apologise that I could not attend your big day. May your next phase in life be wonderful accompanied by your significant other.

Semoga berkekalan ke anak cucu.

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

So goodbye yellow brick road
Where the dogs of society howl
You can't plant me in your penthouse
I'm going back to my plough
Elton John - Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

I could not help but to feel all melancholic and sentimental. Excuse me.

It's been a good 3 years and a half at University of Melbourne. It hasn't always been sunshine, lollipops and rainbows but the good moments tends to outweighs the bad. It's not always easy cruising. At times, it seems as if your classmates are all geniuses and savants while you're the least common denominator.

Seems like it was yesterday that I arrived in Melbourne; snotty nosed, wide eyed, and eager to learn and live. Time flies when you're having fun it seems.

Anyway, goodbye University of Melbourne. It's been fun.

Hello Monash University.

My new uni is a bit way out of town, took me an hour to get there on a good day. Desperately need to buy a scooter or some form of motorised vehicle.

Sydney Part 2

I went to Sydney to kill two birds with one stone. For the National Conference Games and for my interview.

The former was cut short by my injury and the latter somehow went horribly wrong. I went in the interview with an air of nonchalance and laissez faire attitude. Sports jacket, white t-shirt, and jeans is a no no.

Not that I don't know.

Meh.

Sydney Part 1

Sydney is: messy, convoluted, noisy, crowded, noisome, expensive, terrible and I happen to like it.

I'll take Melbourne anytime though, hands down.

Woke up with this view from my bedside every morning.

Had a good time overall although it was marred by what seemed to me as a terrible attempt of the host trying to organise an event which they severely underestimated and in turn fail; crash and burn.

Haven't stepped foot in Tasmania, Northern Territory and Western Australia. Yet. Time and of course, money, will change that.

Hiatus = Bored

On a self imposed hiatus from all form of sports.

Bored to death.

Finally received my offer from Monash. The race for supervisors' signature and projects is now on.
Decision on whether to go to La Trobe or Monash needs to be made asap.

Pining for a particle physics project although it might be a bit more than I can chew with all the high level theory and maths.

On another note, I no longer need to wear a sling.
Yeay!
Although the shoulder still feels a bit 'loose'. My arm might fall off when lifting heavy objects. Another reason to sit on my ass.
